Lewis Moody Injury: Simon Moyes Gives His Verdict

Leading consultant orthopaedic surgeon Simon Moyes gives his view on England Rugby captain Lewis Moody’s knee injury, which has ruled him out of action for a minimum of six weeks.

England rugby captain Lewis Moody is expected to miss the first three games of this year’s Six Nations due to a knee injury.

Moody’s absence leaves manager Martin Johnson with the task of sourcing a new captain. Mike Tindall and Nick Easter are apparently the two favourites.

“Medial collateral ligament damage can be severe and hopefully it is not associated with any other injuries to the knee. The normal range for recovery is six-12 weeks, but the disappointing thing is this MCL damage is in addition to his previous knee injury. Hopefully, Lewis Moody will be back in training sooner rather than later, but I fear that it is likely to be closer to 12 weeks.”
