Leading orthopaedic surgeon Simon Moyes gives his view on England flanker Tom Croft’s fractured shoulder injury.
England flanker Tom Croft suffered a fractured right shoulder in Saturday’s 21-11 defeat to South Africa.
Whilst it is currently unclear how long Croft will be in recovery for, the injury means that he has been ruled out of Leicester’s Aviva Premiership clash with London Irish next weekend.
“Scapula/shoulder blade fractures, fortunately, very rarely need surgery. In most cases, they heal spontaneously over a six to eight-week period. He should be back to full fitness at the end of this period, and ready for the Six Nations in February.”
